21 (Xinhua) -- "x Xx: Return of Xander Cage," a Hollywood action movie featuring Vin Diesel, grabbed the top spot in the Chinese film market for the second consecutive week, China Film News reported Tuesday. It has grossed 1.7 billion yuan since its release on Jan. "Duckweed," a domestic adventure film directed by writer Han Han, sat in fourth place, generating 100 million yuan.

"Kung-Fu Yoga," a domestic comedy featuring Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan, placed third, earning 110 million yuan.

Paramount’s “x Xx: Return of Xander Cage” continues to captivate crowds across the Pacific, as Vin Diesel and local A-listers Donnie Yen and Kris Wu have carried the action thriller to $102 million at the Chinese box office in just six days. “x Xx” hauled in $21.3 million on its opening day and $23.5 million on Valentine’s Day, its biggest day yet.

That’s more than double the $43.7 million the film has reeled in at U. The film has also benefited from marketing help from Paramount’s partner — and new slate financier — Huahua Media, which helped another Paramount film, “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” roll to $320 million at the Chinese box office. Caruso directed the film, which was produced by Diesel, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Joe Roth and Samantha Vincent.

Staying on the musical theme, the other feature worth catching, especially with kids in tow, is franchise already hit screens in North America on January 27.
