Updating r ubuntu
Other fixes include support for long vectors in the vapply function, the ability to use pmax (and pmin) on ordered factors, improved accuracy for qbeta for some extreme cases, corrected spelling for “Cincinnati” in the precip data set, and a few other minor issues.Running “update R()” will detect if there is a new R version available, and if so it will download install it (etc.).
Luigi There is a dedicated e-mail list for R on Debian and derivatives like Ubuntu: https://ch/mailman/listinfo/r-sig-debian You should subscribe to that list and then post your query there.
The answer to your question will depend, to a large extent, on how you installed R in the first place.
The problem is that your installed version of Linux is based on an older list of this software and thus when you try to update, it says there isn’t any newer version available when there actually is.
To solve this, you have to add more lists of software so Linux knows where to look for the newer versions of the software. The first part is one of the CRAN mirrors of which there is a list.
However, the Software Center versions are often out of date, which can be a pain moving foward when your packages are based on the most current version of R Base.
